Last night I had the pleasure of attending a customer apprecition party from the Bridal Spectacular for all the exhibitors. (Come see us as we will be exhibiting in the upcoming show in August.) Owner, Debbie Hansen and staff put on a delightful evening complete with misters for the hot July nights that Las Vegas is known for. I just love the weather here in “V-Town”. I saw a lot of my friends and met some new ones but I decided to sit and eat my delicious bbq dinner with Jennifer Spangler from the Margarita Lady. I’ve known her for over 10 years and as always she’s a joy to be around. We had fun talking about our favorite reality TV shows, completly leaving business at home. Although it was an industry event it truly was relaxing and I needed just that. I went to the dinner with my hair teased high and Jennifer called me Snookie the entire night. We had a great time. (If I can get a photo I’ll post it for you.)
Jennifer’s Margarita Lady business rents various items for special events, everything from margarita machines to popcorn machines to tables and chairs. And though her website needs a little work, don’t judge a book by it’s cover. She works tireslessly to provide excellent service to her customers and it shows because the margarita machines at this highly industry only event was one of hers. Give her a call at (702) 647-8577 and tell her Snookie sent you.
The guys over at Memory Lane Videoare well known in Las Vegas for their exceptional wedding video services but they also help a great deal behind the scenes in the wedding community. As I mentioned in my last post, the Las Vegas Wedding Network had a panel of brides and it was perhaps the best meeting of the year. The brides comments and answers enlightened a room full of wedding professionals on better marketing techniques. For the brides, you’ll learn a great deal from the experience of others. Thank you Ricky, John and staff… you’re the best!
Take a look for yourself.
Last week I had the pleasure of attending yet another fabulous meeting from the Las Vegas Wedding Network (of which I am a co-founder). At one of our committee meetings it was suggested that we have a meeting with a panel of brides. We did and it was a huge success. The next day on Facebook, there was a ton of congrats regarding the meeting from my fellow wedding industry colleagues. Yes, I agree it was one of the best so far.
The newly married brides were asked questions about the experience they had when they planned their wedding. All of the brides were local Las Vegans and they provided an insight into the world of marketing from their eyes. What surprised me most was that they knew each other. It was said that they bump into each other a lot and developed a kindred friendship. What they disliked most was when one vendor would bad mouth another one.
I have to say thank you sooo much to the brides who participated.
Are you a bride with a great marketing tip for us wedding professionals? What would you like to see more of? For instance, they didn’t like it when wedding websites would not post their prices. Although they understood the reasoning behind it, they would have at least liked to have seen “starting at”.
If you are a wedding professional who would like more insight into what the brides want you might consider joining us for the next Las Vegas Wedding Network meeting. It is scheduled for July 7th, 2010, and will be hosted by Shauna Lederman of Aliante Hotel and Casino. Cost is only $25.00 if you sign up early!
A panel of newlywed brides and grooms will answer the top questions regarding the experiences they encountered while planning their wedding. Shauna has put together a delicious summertime menu of barbeque chicken, potato salad, summer squash, red velvet cake with berries and more. And as usual we’ll have raffle prizes, a place to put your business cards and networking at it’s best.

Oh yeah, I’m one of the founding members.

The Process of Getting Married in Las Vegas, NV
Posted by: Monica Morgan
April 20th, 2010 >> Legal Requirements
It’s one of the easiest places in the world to get married; Las Vegas, NV.
In this post you’ll learn everything you need to know about getting married in Las Vegas, the paper work end anyway.
Both the Bride and Groom must go in person to the Marriage Bureau at the Clark County Clerk’s Office to apply for a marriage license.
After receiving your Marriage License, your ceremony must be performed by a marriage official. A Marriage License is good for one year.
Neither blood tests nor waiting periods are required. The legal age is 18 for both men and women (proof of age is required) and licensing fees are $60. Civil ceremonies can be performed at the Marriage Commissioner’s Office at 309 S. 3rd St. Chapel fees vary depending on the services provided.
For marriage license information call the Clark County Marriage License Bureau (702) 671-0600, 201 Clark Avenue (located on the northwest corner of Clark Avenue and Third Street). Marriage License Bureau hours are 8 a.m. to midnight, including holidays.
There are many marriage chapels in Las Vegas to choose from. All of the chapels offer a variety of wedding packages that will include flowers, photographer, etc. The cost of a wedding ceremony will depend upon the chapel and the package you select.
For a listing of wedding chapels click here.
You may also have a wedding ceremony performed by a Commissioner of Civil Marriages.
After your wedding ceremony has been performed, the marriage official has 10 business days to send the marriage certificate to the Recorder’s Office to be recorded.
A marriage certificate is usually recorded by 3 p.m. the day it is received. Certified copies are available the next day for purchase.
Foreign countries require certified copies of marriage certificates in order to register Las Vegas (Clark County) marriages in their country. Some foreign countries also require an Apostille in order to register the marriage.
